Who the heck is Scotch Hollow?

Scotch Hollow, an acoustic roots band, teams up down-home delta blues with good old-fashioned country twang and silky vocals. Just as the name implies, Scotch Hollow is as smooth as your favorite whiskey.

An explosion happened at Berklee College of Music when Mark Verbeck and Carley Martin Verbeck met; they discovered a musical chemistry that they couldn't walk away from. Mark grew up in the Appalachian mountains of central Pennsylvania in an old coal mining town playing punk rock, metal, and classical guitar. His grandma Mimi bought him the Fender steel guitar that he fell in love with the slide with and never turned back. Carley grew up in Kansas City taking in the historic 18th and Vine district jazz and blues music, where Charlie Parker dubbed the Paris of the Plains. She got her hands on a Big Mama Thornton cd at age six-teen, and it changed her plans for her life; she went from studying opera to blues to jazz but always comes back to the sultry, belty blues. She's also a sucker for any twangy country sounds.

After a decade of living in Chicago, Boston, and Nashville, they are now back in Kansas City. and have toured throughout the mid-west, north-east and southern states. They are currently happily raising their baby Ella (yes, after Fitzgerald) near family.
